Cooking and other Food-Related Tips

I'm a big fan of the Kraft food and family magazine. Every season, I receive an issue, full of helpful tips and facts! So I thought, why not share these tips with my fellow food-blogging community, and anyone else who tunes in to my blog.

-There's an easy way to rescue brown sugar that's turned into a big, hard, clump. Simply put it into the microwave for about a minute. If it's still hard, it probably just needs a few more seconds.

-If you're easily tempted by treats the grocery store(I am!), don't go shopping on an empty stomach and always make a list before you go. It will help you shop wisely and stay on track.

- Want to avoid that saucy red-stain on your plastic microwaveable containers? Make sure to cool the food first, and then lightly coat the containers with cooking spray before putting the leftovers in. When you reheat your food, it won't leave a stain.

-Need an extra bit of elbow grease to get the lid off a jar? Just place a thick rubber band around the lid; the extra traction will make opening that sticky jar of molasses a breeze.

-An easy way to decorate with powdered sugar is to fill an empty salt shaker with it and dust tops of cakes, cookies, and other baked goods.

-To easily hull a strawberry, insert a sturdy plastic straw through the bottom tip and push it out the top. This will remove both the hull and the leaves.
