Hi, I'm Meriem!
I like to cook. And bake. And write. And take pictures. All things I never actually went to school for. Why? Well, I was a little busy going to school for diagnostic medical sonography, which is really just a fancy way of saying I was studying how to use ultrasound to check out people's organs, and occasionally, their unborn babies.
When I'm not being a stay at home registered sonographer, I'm a stay at home daughter trying not to blow up my mother's kitchen. 50% of the time, my family's tummies are being satisfied by my gastronomical creations. The other 50% of the time, well, they're not....although I like to believe that 25% of that time, they're just drinking that haterade.
Either way, join me as I chronicle my culinary successes and failures, while aiming to have less of the latter!
About the Blog
I started Culinary Couture in April of 2008, when I was 17 years old and senioritis was in full swing. What began with posting recipes that my mother had taught me, transitioned into wanting to try every single recipe I saw online. And I did....as far as my ingredients allowed.
In introducing my family to a world beyond Algerian food, I fell more and more in love with food blogging and the lively community that came with it. And here I am today, cool enough to actually write about the history of my blog because it's been a remarkable three years, going on four! I wouldn't believe it if I didn't have my blog archive to remind me every day!
So, here's to many more years to come, inshAllah (God-Willing), and to hoping that you'll find some of my recipes useful or simply find some comfort and humor in my writing :)
